We are going to be creating invitations to the Celebration of Learning next month. This will allow you to practice arranging the text, changing the font style and size, and adding artwork. You should do your text first and then use the clipart library to add pictures or draw your picture using colored pencils.

In this lesson, we will learn how to organize and edit digital photographs on the Mac using iPhoto. Windows-based computers have a similar program called Windows Photo Gallery. There are also online websites and apps that help you store and edit your digital photographs. You can access the instructions for the lesson here. Since February is Black History Month, second and third graders learned about Motown - the music recording company from the late 1950's that was responsible for racially integrating popular music. African American musicians signed with Motown when many white-owned companies would not work with them. Many of the musicians we know today were inspired by Motown's stars. Have you noticed owls in your neighborhood? The photograph is of a barred owl in our backyard. We have noticed the owls making a lot of noise lately. The newspaper article from Saturday's edition of the Atlanta Journal Constitution is all about owls. It is mating season for owls and the barred owls sound a lot like monkeys.
